Since age 28, Kurt Metzger has made a big impact on the Los Angeles and San Diego fine dining scenes. He continues to receive national attention for his catering and successful farm-to-table restaurant Kitchen 4140. As one of San Diego's top chefs, Metzger’s vibrant, simple flavors, drawing on products from Southern California’s exceptional farmers, have captivated diners and critics alike.
We’re changing the name of the game from “local when possible" to “local with a few exceptions.”
We understand that everyone does better when everyone does better. We are committed to purchasing what we need from the folks around us, because we truly believe that will make the world a better place.
We have a long list of local produce farmers, dairy farmers, urban farmers, ranchers, foragers, cheese-makers, grain-millers, coffee-roasters, chocolate-roasters, meat-smokers, oil-pressers and curers, winemakers – all manner of artisan producers who have stood strong in a storm of industrial food destruction and proliferated the Slow Food Movement that allows Kitchen 4140 to exist.
